The Porteka Association was founded by several handicraftsmen of Gheorgheni in 2005. The main objective of the association is to promote and support traditional handicrafts of the region. From the beginning, the association is the main organizer, initiator or even the invitee of many cultural events, where they are presenting the traditional handicrafts.

At the same time, the members of the association are organizing craftsmen activities for children at the Tarisznyas Marton Town Museum of Gheorgheni, in a small house, arranged specially for this purpose.

The newest project of the association is the Textile House, where people of all ages have the possibility to know or learn the secrets of traditional textiles, of natural painting, weaving, kerchiefs, etc.
